In response to individual project requirements, Rico Associates provides comprehensive design and planning services by incorporating the specialized expertise of a select group of consulting architects, engineers, horticulturalists, artists, environmentalists, and interior designers to provide a paramount level of multi-disciplined design services.
Promoting the use of locally available products, being sensitive to the fossil fuels used in manufacturing processes, recognizing responsible timber harvesting practices and specifying and prompting the use of recycled materials, Rico Associates has long recognized the importance of sustainable design and is committed to maintaining good stewardship practices through our design solutions.
PRINCIPAL~Vincent P. Rico
My experience as a practicing landscape architect spans over 25 years now. Academically, I hold degrees in Landscape Architecture from Syracuse University and SUNY College of ESF, as well as a Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University.
Prior to establishing my own firm, I gained hands-on practical experience practicing landscape architecture with two design build firms on Long Island, NY. Several years later I joined the NYC Dept. of Parks where I spent the next four years as a Landscape Architect and Specification Writer, finally relocating to Massachusetts where I spent the next 13 years as both an employee and consultant with Sasaki Associates, Inc., in their Watertown office.
Holding professional licensure in both Massachusetts and Connecticut, and professional memberships in the ASLA, BSLA, and CSI, my design work has been recognized by The National Landscape Association, and my specification consulting services have been recognized by The Construction Specifications Institute.
My strong background in both design and technical expertise is supported by the editor’s request to participate as a contributing technical writer and reviewer of the Time Saver Standards for Landscape Architecture, second edition.
Over the years I have spoken at local garden clubs, lectured at Tower Hill Botanical Garden, and given seminars at several Boston-based architectural firms.
My philosophy remains unchanged: …attention to detail, listening to the client’s needs, a basic commitment to excellent design and diligent hard work have, and will continue to produce timeless, sustainable solutions to design and planning problems.
Reliable response time and cost effectiveness have long contributed to a reputation I take pride in.
